Top 10 Best Science Fiction Books

# 1: Dune (Frank Herbert)

Science Fiction doesn't get far better then this. Dune is every fantasy aficionado's dream. Many of us claim Dune is Science Fiction's answer to "Lord of the Rings" and that I need to agree: it sure is. There are many good fantasy books, but Dune is indeed an enormous among giants. It truly may be a pinnacle of fantasy literary achievement. If you haven't read Dune, doesn't waste any longer time. Read it now!

# 2: Starship Troopers (Robert Heinlein)

War is gorgeous consistent with Robert Heinlein. This is often a completely unique about the glorification of war. The premise: space-marines wearing special armor battle vicious alien insect aliens. this is often classic "old school" fantasy at it is best. it is a rip-roaring ride through the galaxy that you simply don't need to miss.

# 3: Ender's Game (Orson Scott Card)

This is one among the corner stones of fantasy and one novel that you simply shouldn't miss. A critique on society, the story of a boy who refuses to offer up, a battle to save lots of the fate of mankind - this fantasy book combines all of them into one addictive and compelling mix that should not be missed.

# 4: Foundation (Isaac Asimov)

This is undoubtedly on the best works of fantasy ever written. If you are a lover of fantasy with grandiose and epic storylines, get your hand on this book.

A corollary: Foundation may be a series for people that love grand and sophisticated ideas. If you're trying to find a book heavy on the action but thin on concepts, this might not be the book for you. The strength of the ideas presented are the main target of this story, not the characterization. Regardless, this is often one among those fantasy books that you simply just got to read. You'll never believe fantasy an equivalent way after reading the inspiration series.

# 5: Snow Crash (Neal Stephenson)

Part-time hacker and pizza deliveryman and full time samurai swordsman, meet Hiro Protagonist. Snow Crash is breath taking novel with action and pacing thick enough to drown in. Snow Crash redefined and rejuvenated the Cyberpunk genre. If you would like a completely unique with bucket a lot of action, futuristic technologies ala The Matrix, and therefore the gritty futuristic dystopia of the Blade Runner world, Snow Crash is that the perfect recommendation.

# 6: Forever War (Joe Haldeman)

The Forever War is just about The Vietnam War in space. It's brutal and bloody and makes a robust case that war is really pointless. Don't let the strong political statement of the novel deter you, however; this is often fantasy at its finest: a posh, disturbing novel that creates you think that ... and feel. It is a great fantasy story that you simply don't need to miss, a real masterpiece of the genre.

# 7: The Night's Dawn (Peter Hamilton)

This is space opera fantasy done right: Massive space battles, an outsized cast of compelling characters, political tension between planets, and an all out grand adventure. There's an honest deal of space opera within the fantasy genre already, but Peter Hamilton is one among the simplest character writers within the genre and his plots are with great care damn interesting. He really knows the way to write a rip-roaring adventure that keeps you up into the late hours of the morning. Those within the mood for something big with many action, both in and out of space, delivers Night's Dawn trilogy.

# 8: Gap (Steven R. Donaldson)

This disturbing series may be a dark ride into hell that you simply don't need to miss. It's one among the darkest set of books I've read, period. But the planet that Stephen Donaldson draws is great. Stephen Donaldson is an author that cares deeply about characterization, and he excels at crafting anti-heroes. If you're trying to find some dark space opera, I highly recommend the Gap series.

# 9: Otherland (Tad William)

Those trying to find something just like the Matrix in written form need look not. Otherland is about as close as you will get. With less mumbo jumbo psycho babble and more realism, Otherland makes for a very compelling read. Otherland starts slow, but those willing provides it an opportunity are going to be greatly rewarded.

# 10: Altered Carbon (Richard Morgan)

This is one dystopian cyberpunk with tons of favor and a few seriously punishing action. I guarantee that when you begin reading this novel, you will not be putting it down. Morgan may be a man with some visionary ideas; He always has interesting characters, twisting plots, and heart-pounding action. People who love Blade Runner, Snow Crash, and Neuromancer are certain a treat.
